Pagod : Wat Tahm-rai-saw
- Battambang is one of the frequently accessed tourist spots, many of them are situated in the city center area. The location of this famous temple in one of the busiest districts and easy access makes it one of the prime attractions. Wat Tahm-rai-saw (White Elephant Pagoda) at this temple is known for its elaborate architectural structure.
- · If you are to visit this popular tourist destination, you should take one of the roads known as Road 2 or Road 3. Road 2 is comparatively busier than Road 3. There are road side shops and eateries that you will see as you take one of the two roads. This area is also convenient because of the many hotels and restaurants around. So, it is quite easy for the tourists staying in this region to pay a visit to this temple.
- The best time to visit the White Elephant Pagoda in Battambang is during the time of Khmer New-year festival. It is during this time that the temple and the adjacent streets are particularly decorated with various colorful accessories making it even more beautiful. You will like to take part in this important Festival of the place as well as enjoy the gorgeous artistic sculptures and brilliant architectural designs. These elaborate designs make it one of the really worth visiting sites in Cambodia.
- Wat Tahm-rai-saw in Battambang is
considered to be one of the important sightseeing places since apart from
being a famous architectural landmark, it is also a place known for its
abundant entertainment options. Some of the specialties that are included
in the amusement options are classical dancing accompanied with
traditional music. Particularly at the time of Khmer New Year festival
there are lots of jubilations and celebrations that are organized in the
streets close to the temple premises. One compulsory thing that
marks the rituals of the festival is that people throw plenty of
water mixed with colored powder at the gathered masses as a good luck wish
and bless their life with fun and prosperity.
- Located
on the east bank of the Sanker River, the temple is a simple and run down
place. There is an unusual wall mural on the outside of the
temple that features a progressing story of a man who killed his
own mother and had to board a boat bound for hell.
The interesting feature of this wat is the Angkor replica about 110
meters sown a dirt path from the rear area of the temple. It was built in
1969 over a small concrete pool and is the pride of the monks staying there.
They say spirits and relics of deceased monks are housed inside.
Battambang is not short on temples and you will see many more around
town and on the way to the sights outside of town.

•What is the Bamboo Train?
- The bamboo train, called the "norry" by locals, is one of Cambodia's most adventurous tourist attractions –rated by the Lonely Planet travel guide as one of the Top Ten Things to Do in Cambodia. Located in the northwestern provincial capital of Battambang, the bamboo train began after the Khmer Rouge left Cambodia in tatters. With the railroad mostly broken and abandoned, villagers took tank and truck parts from the war and cut them to fit the railroad. They then placed a Bamboo platform on top - held in place only by gravity - and added a small motor to the back, often taken from small cars, motors, or boats. The result was the bamboo train - a small railroad cart capable of traveling up to 40km per hour down the warped and bumpy tracks, which can be taken apart and reassembled in under two minutes. Today, the bamboo train is largely used for tourism. For about $5 USD per person, you can board the bamboo train and take a ride down the roller coaster-like tracks - enjoying the Cambodian sunshine, the beautiful atmosphere, and the unforgettable thrill of the journey.

Pinet Phoeung and his wife, Mrs. Yin, had this
house built in 1920 in the reign of His Majesty Sisovath. Lok Oknha was a
commander. But when he got old, he worked as a lawyer. Lok Oknha's
wife was a homemaker. They had 7 children together, one son and six
daughters. After Lok Oknha passed away, the house was occupied by the
6th daughter, Ms. NOU Yieng, and the 5thDaughter, Mrs. NOU Phun and her spouse,
Mr. BUN Chuoy, who both are the parents of the present owner of the
house. Therefore, this ancient house was occupied and maintained for three

- This house measures 29 meters in length and 10.5 meters in width, and was constructed on a surface area of 5,450 square meters in Pey style (a kind of house), meaning that the house has verandas (drying place) at the front and its two sides. The staircase was made of wood. The house roof was tiled with antique Naga-scale-shape tiles, with no inside ceilings. The top portion of the roof was adorned with splendid artistic decors. The above part of the roof was made of Phcheuk wood (a type of very hard wood). The floor-board inside the house was built of Beng wood. The floor-board of the verandas were made of Korkoh wood. As for the walls, they were constructed of woven plaster. The 36 pillars were all made of Phcheuk wood, and they are still stay strong.
- The said ancient house is divided into three parts :
- 1st Part : this part consists of the front and side verandahs.
- 2st Part : this part is the middle part of the house, which consists of a huge living room. At the rear left side of the living room there is another door leading to two bedrooms.3
